Mask On, Mask Off
After the mask mandate officially ended on March 10 in the previous school year, there were plenty of questions among the students about mask requirements for this year. This year the Allen ISD school board has decided to leave it up to the student’s discretion. There are plenty of students who wear masks as well as many who don’t.
A survey was conducted by The Eagle Angle on how the majority of Allen High School students feel about wearing masks, being around those who don’t wear masks, and if they believe that the mask mandate should be put back in place.
There would be the benefit of stopping the new variant, which is twice as likely to spread and cause infections. A downside to this is that the AISD school board would have to go against state ruling, and possibly would be sued like many school districts that tried to enforce masks.
