On Friday, Sept. 8 2023, the Allen Eagles defeated the Arlington Martins in an unexpected turn out.
In the first quarter there was a fumble which was recovered by Maximus Dudley with Allen in the lead by 7-0.
At the end of the first quarter, the Martins scored three field goals and made the score a solid 7-3.
Beginning of the second quarter, the Martins gained another three points. Amir McDowell from the Eagles ran a 45-yard touchdown followed by a two point conversion growing Allen’s lead to 15-6.
At the end of the second quarter, Caleb Smith scored a 36-yard touchdown, along with an additional point making the Eagles lead 22-9.
In the middle of the half-time show, it was announced that the game was postponed by 30 minutes due to inclement weather. Everyone was evacuated from the bleachers until further notice.
The game was postponed for another two hours and staff started giving out water to everyone who’s in shelter.
The Eagles and Martins resumed after the storm passed by.
The score finalized to being 51-31 improving the Eagle’s record to a 1-2 this year.
In the next football game the Eagles will face McKinney BOYD on Sept. 15 at the McKinney ISD Stadium. The theme for the game is ‘blue out.”
