Kooking Up Some Music
The Kooks, a British born band, have everything you would love about a band. Every song on their new album, “Listen”, is upbeat, spunky, and fun. The have a very similar sound to the Artic Monkeys or The Killers with the way their vocals sound and just the beat in general. It is impossible to be bored when you listen to their new studio album.
The Kooks have three other albums. “Inside Out/Inside In” was the first studio album, which was released in 2006. The next was “Konk” released in 2008 and three years later they released “Junk Of The Heart” in 2011.
“Around Town” is first song on the album and it probably is the best one. The beat it self is energized and makes you want to get up and dance, and their lyrics are the kind that get stuck in your head because they are so catchy. Its one of those songs you don’t expect to like but after a couple of times hearing it you start singing along. It is a song that you want to clean the house to but can work out to as well.
Because The Kooks do not have a mainstream fan base they may lack in the sales of the album. Even though they are an awesome band, facts show that the majority of their record sales come from overseas while in America they lack sales, whether that is because they are from England or if it is because they’ve never done any kind of big public campaign in America. Either way I do think that they will with this album have less sales here then in Europe.
If you are looking for a new band to get addicted to, I highly recommend The Kooks because of the entertaining and lively sound you get while listening to almost every song on their album, “Listen.”
