Allen Remains Undefeated with a Blowout at Home
The Allen Eagles remain undefeated as they shut out district opponents Plano Senior High 65-0 on homecoming night.
Always loving to strike early the Eagles continued that pattern with a 58 yard QB keep from Seth Green that resulted in a touchdown in the opening drive of the game.
“Scoring on opening drive is the best, because the energy gets us ready for the game, gets us fired up” Senior OL Greg Little said.
The Eagles then forced the Wildcats to their first of four three and outs, which was followed by a 44 yard bomb from Green to WR Camden Harrison. Connor Limpert missed the extra point keeping the score at 13-0.
If tonight could be summarized it would be all about Plano’s nine total turnovers(three of which were returned for touchdowns) and one singular trip to the red zone.
“We’re thankful to have them, being able to score points off turnovers” Offensive Coordinator Kyle Westerberg said of the defense tonight.
Seth Green did throw an interception with the first quarter winding down, but Westerberg said of that series “[we] kinda went into a funk for a little while, stuff on my part that I gotta get cleaned up a little bit.”
After that one bump in the road it was smooth sailing for the rest of the night, as both Green and Jonke split playing time tonight.
DB JT Taylor had one of the pick six’s tonight, at the end of the first half, to put the score at 20-0 going into the locker room.
The second half looked just about the same for the Eagles forcing forcing 5 of the 9 fumbles in the last 24 minutes.
Sophomore RB Kirby Bennett proved again tonight why he deserves to be on the field, rushing for a touchdown.
“Him being a sophomore, he’s gonna be something special to come” Westerberg said of Bennett. “He’s a weapon.”
This blowout moves the Eagles to an overall record of 3-0. They will take on Flower Mound Marcus, next week, here at Eagle Stadium.
