The Allen Eagles football team will take on Plano West this week, but instead of the usual Friday date, this week’s matchup will be played on a Thursday night due to inclement weather.

“It was a collaborative decision by both involved, the head coaches of both schools, the athletic directors, and the upper administration,” Allen Athletic Director Steve Williams said. “Everybody in our district in 6-6A are moving [the game’s] up.”

This will mean that not only Allen’s game, but every game district-wide will be played on Thursday night.

Williams went on to say he did not want another situation like last Friday’s game to arise.

“We just don’t want another repeat of [last] Friday night,”  he said.

He went on to say that an instance such as last week is not good for anyone across the board.

“It’s not a good situation for the kids to play in, it’s not a good situation of all the auxiliary groups that are performing, and it’s not good for our fans,” he said.

Williams believes that the move will help attendance rather than hurt it, because of the bad weather that is projected for Friday.

The Eagles will look to win their 52nd straight against the Plano West Wolves this Thursday night.
