Review: Walk the Moon concert
Four hours before the show the line wraps around the building and down about two blocks. Walk the Moon drew a massive crowd for their concert on Oct. 7. Their fans showed their support by painting designs on their face and body with bold colors. After patiently waiting for two hours inside South Side Ballroom, the band finally appeared on stage.
“Nants ingonyama bagithi Baba” was the first thing heard after the lights went dark. “The Circle of Life” continued to play as the band got everyone ready and jumping. They opened the set with “Jenny” off of their most recent album.
Everything from merchandise, the stage setup, lights and their songs were vibrant. The band had such a positive energy. They stopped in the middle of the show and the lead singer, Nicholas Petricca, told the crowd to forget about the bad things happening in their lives and to live in the moment. I loved what he said because I could relate to it and I know others could too.
About mid-show, they played “Different Colors,” which I was dying for them to play. I looked around and the whole crowd was hopping. “Different Colors” is a song about being there for each other, acceptance, uniqueness and driving with the windows down with music blasting on a nice night. The band created a song that made people happy and you could tell by the look on the people in the crowds face.
Their last song “Anna Sun” followed the theme about being in the moment and living life to the fullest. “Anna Sun” is the band’s No. 1 song on iTunes. The lights in the room were a mixture of purples, blues and greens and were synced to the song which added a cool effect. At the end of the night, I was bursting at the seams with happiness. Walk the Moon put on a show that I will remember to be one of the best nights I’ve had.
