District 6-6A
UIL shook up the district alignments this morning, adding Denton Guyer, Wylie and McKinney to Allen’s mix along with Boyd, Plano, Plano East and Plano West. The Lewisville schools have been moved over to the new District 5, along with Euless Trinity and Hurst Bell.
New head football coach Terry Gambill said he doesn’t believe this district realignment will be easy for Allen.
“I think it’s a very, very competitive district,” Gambill said. “I think we will have to be totally prepared to go out every Friday night and play.”
Allen played Denton Guyer in their 2015 season- opener, winning 48-16.
UIL realigns district every two years due in part to student population at each high school and to try to minimize the transportation costs for each school district. Allen has once again stayed in the highest classification (6A), and will remain in the same district, six, as the last two years.
