A student’s guide to homecoming
Homecoming week will start on Sept. 26. Activities include five dress up days, the homecoming game against Plano West on Sept. 30 and the homecoming dance on Oct.1.
The theme of this year’s homecoming is The Happiest Place on Earth. The first dress up day is Monday, Sept. 26 with Monsters University College Shirt Day, when students will be encouraged to wear the t-shirt of their favorite college. Tuesday, Sept. 27 is You’ve Got A Friend In Me Twin Day, where students and their friends can come to class in matching outfits. Sept. 28 is Lilo and Stitch Hawaiian Day. Students should come to class dressed in their best Hawaiian attire. Thursday is The Incredibles Superhero Day, so don’t forget to dress like your favorite superhero. On the day of the game, Friday, Sept. 30, wear red, white and blue to show AHS pride. Students are also encouraged to wear their mums to class on Friday, at the game or at the dance, but they must remove or silence them if a teacher requests that they do so.
The homecoming game against Plano West will take place at Eagle Stadium and kick off at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door and a student ID must be brought to the game in order to get a seat in the student section. The homecoming king and queen will be crowned during the pre-game ceremonies, which begin at 7 p.m. To vote for the king and queen, go to the homecoming court survey under the “About Me” tab in Naviance.
The dance will be in the cafeteria on Oct. 1 from 8-11 p.m. Tickets for the dance will be sold Sept. 19-29 during all B-day lunches for $20, and for $25 at the door. DJP Mobile Productions will be the DJ for the event.
