Mens Basketball Preview

The 2016-2017 Allen Eagle men’s basketball team kicked off their season with the Tip Off Pep Rally on the night of Oct. 25.

“I’m excited about this year’s group,” Coach Jeff McCullough said. “I think the sky’s the limit for these guys. We are a very unified team; we play well together, we respect each other and we’ve got great leadership.”

The team has made a lot of changes this offseason. With influential players such as Hans Burwitz and Ben Dixon leaving for college, the team has had to make some adjustments. Multiple players from the JV team as well as sophomore Isaiah Stevens have been brought up to play at the varsity level.

“A lot of the guys are able to play different roles,” Coach McCullough said. “They understand these roles, and end up embracing those roles, so I’m excited about our chemistry this year as an overall group. We’re not going to be a very big, physical group like we have been in the past, but I think that this is the most talented group when it comes to guards and skills that I’ve coached since I’ve been at Allen, so I’m really excited about our potential and what these guys will be able to accomplish down the road.”

Allen plays their first game away against West Mesquite Nov. 14, a team they beat 108-85 last year. Stay up to date on all the action here at the Eagle Angle.
