Movies you should watch based on your sign: Astrology with Astrid & Pauline
Aries: Aries dig thrillers, and any action and adventure movies. Which is why “The Call” would be an adrenaline-pumping thriller that should be on the top of your watchlist.
“The Call” is a crime thriller film starring Halle Berry and Abigail Breslin. Berry plays Jordan, a 911 operator who gets a call from a kidnapped teenage girl (Breslin) which leads to Jordan to partner up with the teen as they team up to help save the teenage girl’s life as she goes through her abduction.
Taurus: Taurus are pragmatic people but are open-minded in the sense that they love a good drama where a protagonist, or multiple protagonist in this case, have emotional backstories. Taurus enjoy finding some empathy in fictional characters. Which is why a classic movie for all to see (if not have seen yet): “The Breakfast Club.”
“The Breakfast Club” is a coming-of-age comedy/drama film directed by John Hughes starring the lovely Molly Ringwald. The plot follows five high school teenagers, each a member of different cliques and various personalities, who spend a Saturday school detention together to realize, despite their specific stereotypes, that they are more than what everyone thinks they are.
Gemini: Gemini’s are into indie movies with an interesting backstory or meaning. Something that many of the other signs wouldn’t get first watch. My recommendation, a classic Woody Allen movie: “Midnight in Paris.”
“Midnight in Paris” is a romantic comedy starring Owen Wilson and Rachel McAdams. Set in Paris, Gil Pender (Wilson), a screenwriter, is forced to confront his true feelings of his relationship with his materialistic fiancee (McAdams) as he continues to travel back in time each night at midnight in the midst of Paris history. With it’s amazing cinematography and direction, Allen combines the themes of nostalgia and modernism in the film to create this cinematic masterpiece.
Cancer: Cancer’s love a film that can make them cry. As the most emotional sign of the zodiac, they do appreciate a good tear-jerker. This is why I suggest the popular film “Marley and Me” for every cancer.
Starring Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston, “Marley & Me” is the perfect drama for a Cancer. These newlyweds, with their adorable little pup, enjoy life and overcome obstacles until a surprising death shakes the whole family. This film will definitely draw emotion out of a Cancer and captivate them. They will they sob uncontrollably to this beautiful, insightful movie.
Leo: (The Hollywood sign of the zodiac) These individuals absolutely love dramatic bangs, explosions and other special effects. An action movie would definitely appeal to these individuals. My film suggestion for a Leo is the popular “I Am Legend.”
This action-packed horror film starring Will Smith highlights one man’s battle to save the human race from horrific monsters that have begun to take over the world. This cinematic masterpiece is filled with intense battle scenes that will keep every Leo at the edge of their seats and shocking special effects that will make their eyes widen in awe. Perfect for this sign, “I Am Legend” will encapsulate every Leo and expose them to an action-packed film they may have overlooked.
Virgo: Virgo’s love something that is a good art-imitates-life movie plot. They like to be inspired by people’s lives and like to find something to trigger something better in their own. Which is why “Cafe Society” is the best movie for a realist like a Virgo.
“Cafe Society” starring Jesse Eisenberg, Steve Carrell, and Kristen Stewart takes place in Hollywood in the 1930s. Eisenberg plays Bobby Dorfman, who lands a job with his wealthy uncle played by Steve Carrell, who falls in love with his uncle’s secretary Vonnie who happens to be his uncle’s mistress. This story moves along the life of Bobby as the movie moves through the themes of heartbreak and the revelation of a true bittersweet romance. Another Woody Allen masterpiece.
Libra: A Libra generally loves movies that will appeal to their romantic side. They love to search for a pleasurable escape from reality. That’s why “Stuck in Love” is the perfect movie for this sign.
“Stuck in Love” is a romantic drama starring Lily Collins and Nat Wolff. The film highlights three different perspectives of love based on three members of the same family: the hopeless romantic, the realist and the clingy ex-husband. The movie emphasizes the main characters’ experiences with their own romantic relationships as well as how they all become entangled toward the end of the movie. This cinematic work will definitely encapsulate most Libra’s with it’s heavy emotional appeal.
Scorpio: Scorpio’s are into dark comedies and find humor in the most mysterious ways. They love anything that involves teens and their wild lives- as they can relate and/or draw inspiration to heighten the intensity of their everyday life. Which is why “Heathers” is a great movie for Scorpios to see.
“Heathers” is a black comedy film starring Winona Ryder and Christian Slater. The film portrays the life of Veronica Sawyer (Ryder) and her clique named as the “Heathers”: the leader of the clique, Heather Chandler, and Heather McNamara, all very popular in their high school in Sherwood, Ohio. As Veronica disapproves of her clique’s cruel behavior of the other students, she meets rebellious outsider named J.D. (Slater) as they spend a lot of time and soon becoming boyfriend and girlfriend. Veronica and J.D. then pursuit to confront Heather Chandler about her toxic behavior and accidentally poison her, and frame the situation as a suicide. The film goes along Veronica’s & J.D.’s adventures of being partners-in-crime within the death of Heather Chandler.
Sagittarius: These individuals are normally extremely blunt and love a good comedy in which the main character resembles their own comedic personality. Therefore, “Bridesmaids” is their go to film.
Starring Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy, this film incorporates some of the most bizarre, blunt, and funny actresses in Hollywood. These ladies are sure to provide a Sagittarius with a good laugh as they search for ways to make their best friend (Maya Rudolph)’s wedding perfect.
Capricorn: Capricorn’s love anything with the name “trilogy” written all over it. They love anything with a lot of detail as they are very observant in the world of movie-watching and bundle up their predictions for every future scene. They love watching a movie of a dystopian world. And there’s nothing that says “dystopia” and “trilogy” more than the Hunger Games.
“The Hunger Games” series consists of four science fiction dystopian adventure films based off the Hunger Games trilogy written by Suzanne Collins. Every year, in the ruins of what was once North America, the Capitol of the nation of Panem forces each of its 12 districts to send a teenage boy and girl, between the ages of 12 and 18, to compete in the Hunger Games. Starring Jennifer Lawrence, the series brings along the life of Katniss Everdeen as she volunteers to take her sister’s place in the 74th annual Hunger Games. The series shows the quest between Everdeen and her comrade, Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) as they fight for freedom within the dystopian world that is run by a cruel leader, President Snow.
Aquarius: Science Fiction and special effects are right up an Aquarius’ alley. Notable for their inventive natures, an Aquarius’ loves a good Sci-Fi/Fantasy. Which is why “Avatar” is a must-see for this sign.
Set on the alien world of Pandora live the Na’vi beings. Because the planet’s environment is poisonous to humans, Na’vi hybrids, called Avatars, must link to human minds to allow for discovery on the planet of Pandora. Jake Sully, played by Sam Worthington, a paralyzed former marine, becomes mobile when he becomes an Avatar to the explore the land of Pandora as he meets and falls in love with a Na’vi woman named Neytiri, and as their world is comes to distress as humans discover their world, Sully is dragged into war against his own actual kind.
Pisces: Pisces is the sign of Sci-Fi and escapism, therefore anything out-of-the-ordinary will captivate them. A pisces also appreciates fantasy and mythical creatures. The “Harry Potter” series is my suggestion for this sign.
An average boy who is brought up by his malicious aunt and uncle , Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) discovers that he is a wizard and therefore escapes his ordinary human life to attend Hogwarts, the famous school of witchcraft and wizardry. Over the course of the next seven years, Harry and his best friends (Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger) embark on many journeys and discover that they are some of the most powerful and brave young wizards Hogwarts has ever seen. After watching at least one of these films, a Scorpio will find themselves itching to watch the entire series as this provides the perfect cinematic escape from the responsibilities of reality.
