Stranger Things Season Two Predictions
For those who may not know, “Stranger Things,” a Netflix original show, released a trailer at the Super Bowl. The fandom lost it, and I did too. “Stranger Things,” also released the episode names, causing people to start speculating about the new season.
Welcome to my theory. To start us off, let’s do a little recap. For those who haven’t finished, please do not read any further because I will be discussing spoilers.
The show left off on a huge cliffhanger. Eleven is gone, Will Byers is throwing up slug things from the Upside Down –this kid can’t get a break– and what was Sheriff Hopper doing with the government and the Eggos? Not to mention the fact that the boys brought in a new monster, the Thessalhydra to their new D&D campaign. That can’t be a coincidence, especially after the trailer showed the viewers the new monster. A very big and very scary monster.
Now the episode titles, which you can find here, are definitely telling while at the same time still remain mysterious to the viewers. The first episode is titled, “Madmax.” While it could be a reference to the original movie that came out around that time, it could also be referring to Eleven. She could be returning in the first episode, though I really doubt that. It’d be too soon for her, and I think that the Duffer brothers want us to be in suspense before she returns.
The second episode is definitely going to be centered around “The Boy That Came Back To Life,” Will Byers. Hopefully this will be the episode where Will either tells someone about him throwing up slugs from the Upside Down, or someone sees him do it. It’s definitely something that needs to be addressed. Also, this might be a Byers-family centered episode. Seeing them back together and the dynamics between them would be light and cute from this undoubtedly suspenseful season. The episode could also deal with how Will is dealing the aftermath of surviving the Upside Down.
“The Pumpkin Patch” is most likely a Halloween episode, considering that the boys were in costume, “Ghostbusters” costumes, in one of the snippets of the trailer. What exactly goes down in the pumpkin patch? I have no idea but I hope it’s where the boys either see the new monster or find Eleven, and I’m hoping for the latter.
“The Palace” I believe is going to be about Sheriff Hopper and his deal with the government. We saw a little of the deal come to play at the end of season one when Hopper got into the car with the government officials/staff. The “palace” could be referring to the actual building where Eleven was held before she broke out.
“The Storm” is going to be the episode where Eleven, who’s hopefully back from wherever she was, and the boys are back together and they start figuring out how to help Will. Speaking of Will, it also might be the episode where he goes to the doctor, who is going to be played by newcomer Paul Reiser. I think that this episode will also be very important because it’s halfway through the season, and I think that in this episode, the viewers will get more information on the monster and the character relationships with each other. If Will Byer’s throwing up slugs isn’t discussed in “The Boy That Came Back To Life,” it most than likely will in “The Pollywog.”
While most people aren’t sure what a pollywog is, a quick google search helps a lot. A pollywog, or polliwog, is a tadpole. Yep that’s right, a tadpole. Our Will Byers could not be throwing up a slug, but rather some sort of monstrous pollywog. I think Will took eating his greens too far.
The next episode, “The Secret Cabin,” I believe it might be a more Sheriff Hopper centric episode, considering his home was a cabin. Maybe we’ll have some Joyce and Hopper scenes, maybe, if we’re really lucky, we’ll have some Jonathan and Hopper scenes. Quick sidenote, did anyone else see the father-son type relationship between those two, or is that just me?
Okay second to last episode, “The Brain.” I think this is going to be a Will-centric episode. I say this because Will is smart, smart enough to make it out alive from the Upside Down, and more than likely the brain of his group. Plus, with this being the second to last episode with how everything ended in the first season, there’s no way that it can’t be about him. I think this episode will have fans on the edge of their seats.
Now onto the last episode, “The Lost Brother.” While I sincerely hope it’s like losing a brother at a grocery store, I don’t think I’ll get my wish. With three brothers on the show, that we know of, it’s more than likely that it’ll be one of those three. I doubt it’ll be Will again because he was lost the whole first season, so it leaves only two options, Mike and Jonathan. While I love Jonathan, I really do, I don’t want the lost brother to be Mike. It would suck for the Byers family to have to deal with that, again, but Jonathan would probably have a better chance at surviving the new monster than Mike.
So what does that all mean? It means that this season is going to be shocking, suspenseful and so much more. We’re going to see how it the monster from the Upside Down changed our favorite characters, and how the relationships between the characters have changed. I, for one, cannot wait for season two of Stranger Things.
