The Art of Fashion: Fashion club/ATAC Fashion show
Fashion club & ATAC host their first annual runway show
The Allen High School Fashion club and Allen Teen Arts Council (ATAC) are joining forces to host their inaugural “The Art of Fashion” fashion show. The fashion show will take place at Blue House Too in Watters Creek on Saturday, April 15 from 6-8 p.m.
The event is open to all Allen residents. RSVP is available for seating on the Fashion club and ATAC website. The show will end in a reception and a Allen Teen Arts Council Spring bash.
Both Fashion club and ATAC members will also design or re-purpose clothing for the show. Both clubs hope to recruit members with this event for the following year.
“Working with Allen Teen Arts Council is a great way for us to reach out to more local designers,” senior and Fashion club president Donovan Bogney said. “It will allow us to reach a vast audience and provide even more forms of entertainment and creativity.”
Fashion club has been planning to do a runway show since winter break of last year. The show will be an annual event.
“We started the concept of doing a runway show last year, and we had said that we would carry it onto this year for time purposes,” Fashion club advisor Kendra Scarberry said. “But we didn’t actually get started on designing and planning out the process until the beginning of the semester. As a board, we had very little time to get everything situated.”
Members of both Fashion club and ATAC will award each guest a gift bag and complimentary hors d’oeuvres. The show will run at 6:30 p.m., with live music played by ATAC members.
“I do feel very confident in the success of our fashion show,” Bogney said. “I see this as an opportunity for young creatives to express themselves in a way that is open to everyone and free.”
All Allen designers are welcome to sign up and showcase their designs at the fashion show. The application deadline to become a featured designer will be due April 5 and applicants must be 24 years old or below in age.
Each Fashion club member will have two to three designs showcasing the theme of their clothing line.
“Our club has came a really far way; I’m super excited to see what everyone has been working on these past few months,” Scarberry said. “And I know not too many people know about our club and what we do, but this will bring a lot of attention to both Fashion club and Allen Teen Arts Council.”
