Pregame Preview: Allen at Plano West
With Allen’s second district game being on the road, the Eagles are looking for yet another perfect record in district play. The Allen Eagles will face the Plano West Wolves at Clark Stadium on Oct. 5.
Plano West finished last year with an overall record of 1-9. They have started this season with a record of 0-4 and 0-1 in district. The last time the Wolves have beaten the Eagles was in 2004 by a score of 24-17. The Wolves of the West are averaging 7.5 points per game while Allen is averaging 36.8.
The Wolves have scored a total of 30 points in a four game span while also allowing 183 points. The Wolves of West are averaging 217.8 yards per game. Their leading passer for West is senior quarterback Jake Sweeney, who has completed 37.9% of his passes for 384 yards and two touchdowns.
Before they go on the road, Allen ended its home stretch in style, Last week the Eagles beat McKinney Boyd, 61-10 to improve to 29-0 at Eagle Stadium since it opened in 2012. The Eagles will come into this game as the number one ranked team in the state of Texas and as No. 10 best team in the country according to Maxpreps. They have an outstanding defense which has forced nine turnovers in their first four games while only allowing 12 points per game.
While the Eagles have an impressing defense, they also have a fast and smooth running offense. Junior quarterback Grant Tisdale has thrown for 526 yards in the air and is completing 64% of his passes. Tisdale has also managed to be a threat on the ground with 256 yards and a touchdown while averaging eight yards a carries. Senior running back and Arizona State commit Brock Sturges has been a workload for opponents as well, while rushing for 495 yards while averaging eight yards a carry and scoring nine touchdowns.
