Eagles Drop a Blowout on the Wolves
The Allen Eagles showed no fear playing against Plano West, winning by a score of 59-0. The win leaves the Eagles with a perfect district record of 2-0 and an overall record of 5-0.
In a Thursday night lights showcase, the Allen defense kept West’s quarterback under pressure throughout the game, allowing only eight passing yards in addition to 140 rushing yards at just 3.1 yards per carry. The Allen defensive line dictated the pace of the game and controlled the line of scrimmage against West.
“We needed that shutout,” junior defensive lineman Jayden Jernigan said. “Last year we only got one shutout in the whole season.”
The longest play Allen allowed was a 48 yard run in the second quarter, but the defense made splash plays of its own with an interception in the fourth quarter by senior defensive back Austin Drake.
“We were practicing and we were really focused about what they were coming with,” Drake said. “We just executed [our gameplan].”
Junior quarterback Grant Tisdale and junior wide receiver Theo Wease made several big plays throughout the tonight. Tisdale managed to rack up 159 yards on 19 attempts in the air with three touchdowns, while junior wide receiver Theo Wease hauled in nine catches for 135 yards and three touchdowns. Senior running back Brock Sturges ran through the Wolves defense for a total of 144 yards and two touchdowns on 18 attempts. The offensive line played a major role in the star showing, helping the Eagles run the ball consistently and develop the passing attack while racking up 531 yards of total offense
“Every game, we just battle through adversity like we did,” Wease said.
Senior kicker Brady Ellsworth made all seven of his PATs along with a 23 yard field goal.
