Pregame Preview: Prosper at Allen
On Friday, November 2nd at 7:00pm, the 8-0 Allen Eagles will have their homecoming game against the 7-1 Prosper Eagles at home.
Allen is still undefeated and are still at full momentum but if there’s one team that can beat Allen in the district, it could be 2nd place Prosper.
The key players to watch in this game are the quarterbacks. While Prosper’s Senior Keegan Shoemaker may have more passing yards (1568 yards vs 1391 yards). Allen’s Grant Tisdale is more versatile in his play, with significantly more rushing yards (557 yards vs 107 yards), and a higher completion rate (72% vs 64%).
Another key matchup are the running backs, with Prosper having a clear priority on their rushing game. Prosper’s Senior Wayne Anderson has run 1,190 yards on 147 carries, averaging 8 yards per attempt, along with 15 touchdowns. Allen’s Junior Celdon Manning has 619 yards on 65 runs, averaging 10 yards per carry, along with 9 touchdowns. Make sure to keep an eye on these players, as both of these offenses are looking very versatile in the air and on the ground.
Allen is currently first place in district 9-6A, with Prosper at the heels of Allen, currently sitting at second, looking to secure this win and tie for first place. Their defense is only allowing 13.1 points through eight games and have only given up an average of 215 yards per game. Prosper averages 41.5 points on offense, while also compiling 427.8 total yards in each game. Their defense is allowing only 19.2 points, while giving up and allowing 307.6 yards each game.
